How do I apply for a job I've seen advertised?

Please click here to see our current vacancies. You will then be prompted to complete an application. Once we have received your application you will receive a confirmation e-mail. We will then shortlist the role and contact you to let you know whether you have been successful in gaining an interview. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact our HR department on 0121 472 0116 or email [email protected]

What is the short listing process?

Short listing is carried out by a minimum of two members of staff. All personal details and equality information is removed from the application forms. Application forms are then forwarded to the short listing panel who score the applications against the person specification. CV’s do not form part of our process and are not considered at this stage so it’s important that your application form contains all relevant information.

Short listing will usually take place within two weeks of the closing date.

When do you request references?

References are usually requested once an offer has been made. However, we reserve the right to request prior to interview unless you have indicated on the application form that you do not wish us to contact your named referee’s before an offer is made.

What is the interview process?

The interview process will vary from role to role. In most cases the interview will form part of the process along with a task, such as a micro teach, presentation,  skills test or other form of assessment relevant to the position.

What is your pre employment check process?

Fircroft College is committed to the safeguarding of ‘at risk’ adults, therefore any offer of employment is made subject to a number of different pre-employment checks which must be deemed satisfactory by Fircroft College. The checks are as follows –

  • Receipt of two satisfactory references, one of whom must be your most recent employer
  • A standard DBS check
  • Proof that you have the right to work in the UK (in accordance with Home Office guidelines)
  • Proof of relevant qualifications
  • Medical assessment form

How does the salary scale work?

When we advertise a role we show the bottom and top salary available for the role based on the salary scale. When you are offered the position we conduct a salary assessment, which takes into consideration your qualifications, experience and the market rates for the role. This will give us the point on the scale to offer. This ensures a fair and consistent approach for all employees of Fircroft College.
