This course is an introduction to the critical questions that sociology asks about how society works. We will consider how power, privilege and inequality impact upon our everyday lives through systems such as education, work, healthcare and family. The course will use different perspectives and ideas to think about the problems we face in creating equal and fair societies, and to ask how our systems could work differently.  

During the course we will develop critical questions to ask about our everyday experiences and we will consider new ways of looking at familiar aspects of life such as education.

This course is ideal for anyone interested in working in social and public sectors or further study in social sciences.

By the end of the course you will be able to:

• develop critical questions to ask about society
• understand different ways of analysing society
• explore examples of inequality in social systems

Accreditation

On successful completion of this course you will receive a college certificate.

You need to be working at literacy Level 1 or above
