Claire- Access to Higher Education Diploma (Social Sciences and Humanities) 2020/21 - due to start university in September 2021

"The Access to HE course has undoubtedly been challenging this year (2020-21) because of Covid-19, but the college has done whatever it can to make it run smoothly, pulling out all the stops where possible, with excellent pastoral and educational support. As a residential student, the experience has been good with comfortable en-suite rooms and the food is simply amazing and all staff very friendly...the lovely gardens are a little haven of peace as well :-)".

Sarah - Access to Higher Education (Social Sciences and Health) 2020/2021 - due to start university September 2021

"I ended up joining the access to higher education course at Fircroft with the amazing help of the admissions team as I was late joining. I didn’t know what to expect when I joined but I was absolutely blown away. All of the staff are so, so friendly, everyone remembers your name and staff always say hi and ask how you are doing. The vibe at the college is welcoming and relaxing, and the beautiful scenery surrounding the college is perfect for studying. Lockdown and covid has made the course incredibly bumpy and more stressful, but I can confidently say staff have done all they can to ensure the students receive the best they can get. I am over the moon at the prospect of being able to attend university after this course, and I couldn’t have achieved this without the help and support from each and every member of staff. From the kitchen staff, to the night staff to the cleaners and the tutors, I have been met with a genuine wish to be helpful, kind and supportive from everyone".

Mohammed - Access to Higher Education (Social Sciences and Health) 2020/2021 - due to start university September 2021

"Fircroft College of Adult Education is an excellent college where everyone can attend because of the support they have for students, not just learning support but also financially and mentally as they are a residential college. The tutors, the staff and everyone else are very nice and understanding. The college's priority is not just about teaching, it's also about building confidence and developing the students' skills and whatever is required in order to further study especially at university. English is my second language and I have only started learning the language five years ago and Fircroft gave me all the support needed. So, overall I highly recommend it to everyone."

Hannah - Access to Higher Education Diploma (Social Sciences and Humanities) 2019/2020 - now a University student

"Coming to Fircroft has 100% changed my life for the better.  It has given me confidence in myself and in my abilities.  Coming to the college has given me hope for the future and I am not stuck in the rut I was in".

Luke - Access to Higher Education Diploma (Social Sciences and Humanities) 2019/2020

"My journey started with Fircroft, without them I just wouldn’t have made it to where I am today. I admired the history of Fircroft so much as I was always interested in social justice and political activism. I also appreciated how the college was designed so that working people can still better themselves and study. A lot of social issues were discussed at the college and I particularly enjoyed when a member of the Black Lives Matter movement came in to speak with us"

Luke went onto achieve first-class honours in Political Science and Social Policy at the University of Birmingham, graduating in 2020
